Robert G. Burgess , 66, of 1325 Meadowview Dr., died Wednesday morning, Dec. 11, 1996, in the Grendler residence, 4301 Mount Vernon Rd. SE, Cedar Rapids, after a lingering illness. Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday. The Rev. William Harnish will officiate. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.

Robert is survived by friends, Albert and Dorothy Grendler of Cedar Rapids.

Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Rowena Coon Burgess .

Robert was born June 3, 1930, in Marion, and was a lifelong resident. He had worked for Blahnik Construction Co. and was a member of the Laborers Union Local 43. Robert had served in the Navy during the Korean War.
