Elizabeth Chambers, daughter of J.C. Matlick, was born in Rutledge, Scotland County, Mo., August 3, 1865. Having received a pious training at the hands of her christian parents, at an early age, she laid the foundation of a christian life. In 1884 she was united in wedlock to Geo. J. Chambers. To them was born six children.

For some time she had been in failing health, which terminated in death at Fr. Madison, Iowa, Dec. 14, 1906, at an age of 43 years, 4 months and 11 days. She leaves a husband and six children to mourn her death. To those who knew her, and knew her best, was but to love her.

In her daily walk of life, she endeavored to emulate the life of Him who said - "Let your light so shine before men, that those seeing your good works may be led to glorify your Father which is in Heaven." Her christian example was one worthy of emulation. She lived not unto herself, but to her children, and to those around her. Her motto was "for me to live in Christ and to die is gain." This she sought to inculcate into the hearts of her children. Among her last words were that she was going to be with Christ which was for better.

Her remains were brought from Ft. Madison on December 15 and was gently laid to rest in the Bethel cemetery.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. T.B. McGregor, pastor of the Memphis M.E. circuit. A large concourse of people attended the funeral and thus paid their last tribute of respect to the dead. May she rest in peace.

The aged father and mother, husband and children, have the heartfelt sympathy of all who know them.
