According to her obituary in the Washington Post: "Mrs. Pearsall, famed for her beauty, became known to Washington society as the 'heliotrope belle' from her habit of almost always dressing in some shade of heliotrope, and always wearing violets. Her first marriage was to James G. Blaine, Jr., son of the 'plumed knight' of American politics during the latter part of the last century. She was divorced and later married Paul S. Pearsall of New York and Washington, who died here about 15 years ago."
