Parents: Sever and Sophia (Severson) Severson
DODGEVILLE - Raymond L. Severson, age 95, of Dodgeville, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2005, at Upland Hills Health, following a brief illness. Ray was born on Sept. 8, 1909, in Norwegian Hollow, to Sever and Sophia (Severson) Severson. He married the former Hilda O. Peterson of Highland Township on Oct. 7, 1931. The couple farmed northwest of Dodgeville until retiring to Dodgeville in 1976. Hilda preceded him in death on Sept. 4, 1997. In August 2001, Ray moved to Crestridge Assisted Living, where he received wonderful compassion and care. Ray was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Raymond is survived by two daughters, Shirley (John) Larson of Hollandale, and Judy (Donald) Dobson of Dodgeville; a son-in-law, Phillip "Jack" Nelson of Dodgeville; eight grandchildren, Bruce Nelson, Kevin Nelson, Karen (Ted) Fritsch, Barbara (Lonnie) Ewing, Randy (Karla) Larson, Scott (Brenda) Larson, Jeff Halverson and Julie (Dean) Dochnahl; five great-grandchildren, Sara and Shelbi Fritsch, Jason Ewing, and Michael and Morgan Larson; as well as nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Nelson, on Nov. 22, 2000; an infant grandson, David Larson; his parents; and three brothers, Elmo, Clinton and Oliver Severson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005, at GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH, Dodgeville. Pastor Steven R. Kottke will officiate with burial in East Side Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005, at the LULLOFF-PETERSON-HOUCK FUNERAL HOME, Dodgeville, and at the church on Thursday after 10 a.m.
