PFC Tyree served with Co D, 22nd Inf, 3rd BN. He was reported killed by hostile gunshot or small arms fire.

He had left for overseas service in the mid-October, about two weeks after his marriage to his wife, Flora.

He was the son of Earl Johnson Tyree & Katherine Tyree-O'Brien.

He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart in March, 1968.
