Flora Margaret Asbury Maddox of Kingsport passed away on Tues., Nov. 1, 2011, at Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness.
She was born and raised in Wise, VA., and later lived for many years in Appalachia, VA. She had been a resident of Kingsport since 1963, where she and her husband of 51 Years, Eugene P. Maddox, Sr., owned and operated Tots 'n Teens, a children's and teen's clothing store in Greenacres.
She was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church. There she belonged to the Crusade Sunday School Class, the United Methodist Women, the Forever Young older adult fellowship, and the Sounds of Joy Choir. In Appalachia, she had been a third grade Sunday School teacher at Appalachia Methodist Church. She was awarded a Life Membership in the Women's Society of Christian Service. She had also belonged to the Appalachia Music Club and the Hearts-Ease Garden Club.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, R. Thomas Asbury, Sr. and Julia Craft Asbury; brothers R. Thomas Asbury, Jr., J. Morton Asbury, and Kenneth P. Asbury; and sister Helen Asbury.
