ST. IGNATIUS - Elsie Bristol, 92, of St. Ignatius, died of congestive heart failure Thursday, March 25, 2004, at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula. Elsie was born Oct. 31, 1911, in Lewistown, the daughter of Swedish immigrants Axel and Elsie (Johnson) Anderson. Elsie married William Wilson Bristol in Livingston on June 21, 1931.
In 1933, she and William moved to the Mission Valley and settled at the base of the Mission Mountains, where they raised their family. She resided there until her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband William W. Bristol in 1981; her mother and father; two brothers, Harold and George Anderson; an infant son, Allen; and became a Gold Star mother with the loss of a son, Clarence, in the Vietnam War.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Maurice and Eva Bristol of Pullman, Wash., William and Rose Bristol of St. Ignatius, and Bob and Pat Bristol of Ronan; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Tom Delaney of Missoula and Karen and Ron Krantz of Ronan; grandchildren and spouses Debbie and Jim Martin of Clarkston, Wash., Mike Bristol of Clarkston, Doug Bristol of Carbondale, Colo., Lois Ingram of New York City, Barbara Bristol and Eric Donaldson of Sheridan, Wyo., David and Maria Bristol of Missoula, Terra and Steve Bucy of Lebanon, Ore., Carole and Mike Schock of Billings, Pat Peden of Belgrade, Kelly and Will Laden of Missoula, Kristy and Matt Popowski of Bowdle, S.D., Clark and Adele Krantz of Kalispell, Carolyn and Ridge Wieringa of West Glacier, Charity and Monty Cheff of Ronan and Ernie Bristol and Shannon Lillethun of Ronan; two brothers and wives, Robert and Jean Anderson of Helena and Charles and Lois Anderson of Brunswick, Maine; a special friend, Patricia Bristol of Missoula.
