Mrs. Sylvia M. Adam, 85, died Friday morning at Alma Manor, Alma, Kansas. She was born June 6, 1895 in Hiawatha, the daughter of William F. and Bianna Winslow. As a child, she moved with her parents to the Moonlight community north of Abilene. She graduated from Chapman High school with the class of 1914. She taught in the Probasco, Pearl, and Brookside rural schools. On July 30, 1917, she married Wilbur L. Adam. Most of their married life has been spent in Abilene. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by a daighter, Eileen, in 1925, and a sister, Mrs. William (Ruth) Hettenbach. She is survived by her husband, Wilbur, Alma; three daughters, three sons, 22 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers and a sister. Funeral services were Monday at 10:30 at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church with Rev. G.P. Minner officiating. Interment was in the Abilene Cemetery, with Danner Funeral Home handling the arrangements.
