CHAUNCEY HISSONG DIES AT ELKHART

Well Known Retired Trackman for N. Y. C. and Resident of Corunna, Died Tuesday Morning


Chauncey Hissong, aged 75 years, for many years a resident of Corunna, and a retured New York Central trackman, died at the home of his foster daughter, Mrs. Arthur Wiltrout, in Elkhart, at 5 o'clock Tuesday morning. Death was due to kidney trouble and complications.

Two weeks ago he went to Elkhart for treatment and had been staying at the Wiltrout home. Mr. Hissong was one of a family of six children, three sons and three daughters. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Hissong, and was born in Elkhart county. In childhood, he came with his parents to Fairfield township. July 3, 1883, he was united in marriage with Mahala Hosler, locating in Corunna after their marriage. The were the parents of two sons, John and Carl.

For a number of years he was employed as a trackman and after his retirement was a caretaker at the park and school janitor.

Surviving are the widow, two sons, John and Carl, Corunna; a brother, Elijah Hissong, near Hudson, and two grandchildren.

The subject in the obituary, Mrs. Arthur Wiltrout, along with her sister, Mrs. Jacob Alt, were nieces that were taken in by the Hissong's after the death of Mahala's sister - Frances Hosler Pairan.
