WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa--Paul Luther Tomson, 79, of Wapello, died Wednesday morning, December 28, 2011, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Following cremation the family is planning a graveside service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2011, at the Wapello Cemetery with military rites by the Wapello VFW Glenn Allen Post 5166. A general memorial has been established. The Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello is providing the care and arrangements.
Paul was born on December 3, 1932, in Iowa City, the son of Perry Wyly and Jennie Bell Collins Tomson. He married Nellie Leona Feikert on May 5, 1957, in Burlington. She preceded him in death on May 10, 2008.
Paul attended Wapello schools and served in the US Army in the Korean Conflict. He had worked with the Teamsters as a truck driver in road construction.
He is survived by three daughters, Phyllis and Omar Connolly of Wapello, Gale and Bob Barrick of Wapello, and Judy Strahan of Galesburg, Ill.; a son, Joe Tomson of Wapello; twelve grandchildren; and nineteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nellie; two sisters, Virgie Thirtyacre and Charlotte Tomson; and four brothers, Perry, Lynn, Kelly, and John Tomson.
