Helen was the 3rd of five daughters of Henry James and May Emily (Treen) Mollenhauer. Her middle name "Bell" was the surname of her maternal Grandfather.

Helen met Oscar George at the Bell Telephone Company where they were both, employed.
They were married at the Mollenhauer home at 371 Webster Avenue in Jersey City, New Jersey on June 21, 1924. Helen's Maid of Honor was Catherine Fahlteich. The couple honeymooned in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Helen and Oscar had two children:
Helen Jean (1925-2012) and Oscar Robert (1936- )

Helen enjoyed many activities including crocheting, playing cards & bingo, reading, and betting on horse races. She was very lucky in cards, bingo and picking speedy race horses. She was superstitious, and believed that finding a 4-leaf clover would bring a person luck. She had a close family relationship with her husband and children, with all of her sisters except Florence, and with many of her aunts and uncles. She had many long-lasting friendships over the years.
