Thomas M. "Buck" Hoelzer, age 54, after a courageous 9 month battle with cancer, Buck passed away Friday afternoon, August 2, 2013 with his 3 girls by his side. He was born on June 4, 1959 in Rochelle, the son of Milton "Swede" W. and Bettie J. James Hoelzer. Buck married Sherry Lee Murdock on January 18, 1986 in Rockton, IL. He lived a wonderful life filled with great experiences. Buck enjoyed riding his motorcycle, relaxing on the beach in Florida, farming, and spending time with great friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents: Swede Hoelzer and Bettie Herrmann, step father: Vince Herrmann, father-in-law: Charlie Murdock, and sister-in-law: Tonya Barmes. Survived by his wife: Sherry Hoelzer of Esmond; 2 daughters: Ashley Hoelzer of Chana and Heather Hoelzer of Esmond; 5 Siblings: Mike (Carol) Hoelzer of Franklin Grove, Dawn (Norm) Jenkins of Rochelle, Darrell Herrmann of Steward, Denny Herrmann of Rochelle, and Dave Herrmann of Steward; step mother-in-law: Bonnie Murdock; mother-in law: Barbara (Maurice) Barmes of Pinellas Park, FL; 2 sister-in-laws: Patti (Bob) Herron of Bradenton, FL, and Joanie (Bob) Searfoss of St. Petersburg, FL; many nieces and nephews. Thank you to all the doctors, nurses, and staff at UW Madison Hospital, OSF Saint Anthony and Heartland Hospice. Funeral will be at 10 AM on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N 6th St., Rochelle. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 PM on Tuesday at the Unger Horner Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, Memorials to UW Carbone Cancer Clinic or to the family. Burial at the Greenview Cemetery in Esmond.
