(1931 - 2013)

LeRoy A. "Zip" Zipperer, age 81, of 333 N. Cherry St., Whitelaw and currently a resident of the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc, died early Monday morning, April 8, 2013 at the Holy Family Memorial medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.

LeRoy was born on April 10, 1931 in the Town of Cato, son of the late Louis and Elizabeth (Meidl) Zipperer. He attended St. Michael Catholic Grade School in Whitelaw. LeRoy served his country in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1957. On July 26, 1958, LeRoy was married to Donna Lakatos at Holy Innocents Catholic Church in Manitowoc. He worked for the Brillion Iron works for 39 years retiring in 1995. Over the years Zip played baseball and fastpitch softball in the Manitowoc County League. LeRoy was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church of Whitelaw and the church's Holy Name Society, the Whitelaw Sportsmans Club and the Manitowoc County Old Timers Baseball Association. Zip was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and in the past enjoyed golf, bowling, hunting, gardening, horseshoes, dartball and playing sheepshead.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Zipperer, Whitelaw; his five children and their spouses: Ann (Jim ) Perron, Whitelaw, Julie (Leon) Baer, Reedsville; John (Kristen) Zipperer, Clarks Mills; Bob( Kristen) Zipperer, Reedsville; Amy (Keith) Mach, Reedsville; twelve grandchildren, Jennie (Todd) Miller, Matt Perron, Jacob Perron, Ryan Baer and his special friend, Ashlee; Amand Baer, Casey Zipperer, Gretchen Zipperer, Carmen Gintner, Cole Zipperer, Claire Zipperer, Trevor Mach and Derek Mach; two great grandchildren; Daphne Miller and Samuel Van Ruiswijk; one sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette (Leroy) Remiker, Two Rivers; four sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Bernadine Zipperer, Cato; Bonnie Zipperer, Manitowoc; Alice Lakatos, Manitowoc; Melvin (Geraldine) Lakatos, Manitowoc; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Elizabeth Zipperer; one daughter, Lori Jean Zipperer; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Clara Lakatos; five brothers and three sisters-in-law, Ray (Rose) Zipperer, Clarence (Donna) Zipperer; Norbert Zipperer, Art (Irene) Zipperer; Jerome Zipperer; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Margaret (Ed) Kohlman, Clara Zipperer, Loretta (Helmer) Franzen, Arlene (John) Kocourek; two sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law, Sylvia (Ted) Blaska, Edith (Dan)Ready, Joseph Lakatos.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2013 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw. The Rev. David Zimmermann will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, Kellnersville on Thursday from 3:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 9:00 a.m. There will be a parish prayer service on Thursday at the funeral home at 4p.m. led by Fr. Dave.
