He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth McVea; sons, Jim McVea; Jason McVea and wife, Sylvia; stepdaughter, Jane Reese and husband, John; stepson, Frank Hutchinson and wife, Kathy of Souix Falls, SD; grandchildren, Heather and Thomas McVea. Mac was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. After 20 years of service, “Mac” retired from the Energy Management Department at HEB. He was the Vice-President of Chapter 1045 of AARP and currently served as Chair for the City/County Commission for the Elderly. During the latest state reorganization Mac was given the title of CommunityService/Chapter Liaison for State & Community Service. Mac is a member of the State/Local Community Action Team and SALT/TRIAD-an organization made up of Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, the San Antonio Police Department. Mac is a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd and formally served as chairman of the Property Board.
