MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Arnold L. Slonaker, 88, of Martinsburg, died Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.
Born Dec. 2, 1909, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Lawrence and Mary Bessie Clark Slonaker.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.
He retired after 43 years with Interwoven Mills Co. He was retired from the Berkeley County School Board.
He was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and Hott Memorial Class.
He was a member of Berkeley County School Board Retirees.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lois Pearrell Slonaker.
He was preceded in death by
a daughter, Ann Slonaker Shipley;
two sisters,
Iva Ropp and
Carrie O'Roke; and
a brother, LeRoy Slonaker.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Arlene R. Carr and Dr. Carroll A. Doggett will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Luke's United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 700 New York Ave., Martinsburg, WV 25401.
