Dixie Anderson, died Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Koronis Manor in Paynesville, after a courageous battle with cancer. Dixie Lee Anderson was born March 20, 1938, in Aurelia, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer "Russ" and Lorretta "Etta" (Goettsch) Freese. She grew up in the Holstein, Iowa, area where she attended elementary school and graduated from Holstein High School with the class of 1955. She went on to college at the Lutheran School of Nursing in Sioux City, Iowa, where she graduated in 1958. On Sept. 23, 1966, Dixie married Donald Anderson, in Minneapolis. This union was blessed with two sons. The family made their home in Richfield from 1966-1972, when they moved to Bloomington. Dixie worked in the healthcare profession her whole life finishing her career as a nurse practitioner at Western OB/GYN in Waconia. In 2000, she retired after 42 years in the healthcare field. In 2003, Dixie and Don moved to Paynesville where she had resided since. Dixie was a member of Paynesville Lutheran Church where she was active in WELCA, alter guild, kitchen committee, and as part of the quilters. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Paynesville.
Dixie enjoyed playing cards, scrap booking, gardening, painting, reading and cooking. She adored her grandchildren and cherished the time she was able to spend with them.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Donald; sons, Derek (Kristie), of Grapevine, Texas, and Dustin (Courtney) of Victoria; three grandchildren, Nicklas, Benjamin and Cambelle; and her brother, Robert Freese of Hiawatha, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Russ and Etta Freese.
