Mary's granddaughter is my sister, so I did some research for her:

Mary came to the U.S. from Holland in 1910 aboard the ship Noordam, arriving in New York City from Rotterdam, Holland on Dec 4 1910. She was the daughter of Wilhelmina Van Baalen and Willem Regtor, who had lived in Friesland, Netherlands and were parents of William, John and Alfred. When Mary was young, the family settled in Chicago and placed her in the custody of St. Mary's Home for Children in Chicago run by the Sisters of St. Mary (Episcopal).

As a young adult, Mary had her daughter, Romona. Five years later, she married Norman Sorrells in Chicago, and then the couple moved to Industry, IL. Norman died on 20 March 1988 in Macomb, IL.

Obit: Mary Sorrells, 82, of Macomb died at 10:07 pm Saturday, July 3, 1993 at McDonough District Hospital.
She was born Feb. 21, 1911 in Holland to William and Wilhemina (Van Bollan) Righter. She married Norman Sorrells Dec. 15, 1932 at Chicago. He died March 10, 1988.
She is survived by one daughter, Romona McMahon of Macomb; two granddaughters; six great grandchildren; one great-great- granddaughter; and one brother, Alfred Rector of New Port Richey, Fla. She was also preceded in death by two brothers.
She lived in Industry most of her life, moving to Macomb in 1973. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Colchester and worked as a free lance artist.
Services are 1:30 pm Wednesday at the Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with the Rev. Randy Miller officiating. Burial will be in Industry Cemetery.
