Mr. Grover Vernon Blue, 76, of Rockingham, died Friday, June 18, 2004 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born Feb. 23, 1928 in Richmond County, a son of the late Duncan E. and Pearl Thomas Blue.

He was a member of Roberdel United Methodist Church and retired from the Richmond County Daily Journal with many years of service. He shared his love for history and genealogy with his family and authored the Blue-Thomas Family History Book which is cherished by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Adelaide McLean; three brothers, Gerald, Bobby and Malcolm Duncan.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, June 21, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Roberdel United Methodist Church with Rev. Denny Glennon, Rev. Ira Smith and Rev. Randy Guerry officiating. Burial followed at Marks Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

The family received friends Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the Blue home.
