"Dean Haines, 56, of Martinstown, Missouri, died Wednesday, October 21, 1998 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri. He was born on March 25, 1942, the son of George and Lola (Mendenhall) Haines at his grandfathers farm in Worthington, Missouri. Dean was raised in the Graysville and Martinstown areas and attended grade school in Graysvllle. Dean graduated from the Livonia High School with the class of 1959. Dean served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1964 until 1966. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Glaspie on June 30, 1968, at the Graysville Baptist Church by the Reverend Archie Cooper, she survives. Dean always enjoyed working on cars and restoring antique cars. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting and talking with his friends on his CB radio. However his greatest joy came from being with his 2 grandchildren, which he did at every possible chance. Dean was employed as a truck driver for Premium Standard Farms. Dean is survived by his mother, Lola Haines of rural Unionvllle, his 2 sons, Greg Haines and his fiancee Lisa Wagner of Unionvllle and Loren Haines and his fiancee Melinda Foster of Unionvllle, his 2 grandchildren, Trevor Haines and Katelyn Haines. He is also survived by his 2 sisters, Evelyn Griggs and her husband Gary of rural Unionville and Ruth Herrick and her husband Dick of Carlisle, Iowa; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and his father, George Haines on May 28, 1976. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 1998, at the Luscan Funeral Home in Unionville, Missouri, with the Reverend Michael Greenup, Pastor of the Omaha Baptist Church officiating. Burial was with full military rites in the Martinstown Cemetery. Visitation was held on Friday, October 23, 1998, from 1:00 until 8:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Pianist and vocalist Carolyn and Johnny Vincent sang "Amazing Grace" and "Sheltered in the Arms of God." Pallbearers were Corey Heidenwith, Clint Heidenwith, Cody Heidenwith, Wayne Foster, Randy Sands, and Greg Kellison. Honorary pallbearer was Garnet Paris. A memorial has been established to the Martinstown Cemetery and contributions may be left at or mailed to the Luscan Funeral Home."
