FORREST -- Dorothy L. Wiegand Bachtold, 94, a resident of Fairview Haven Nursing Home in Fairbury, formerly of Forrest, died at 11:15 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 21, 2006) at Fairview Haven.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Forrest Apostolic Christian Church, with ministers of the church officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Martin-Burke Funeral Home in Forrest, and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in South Apostolic Christian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials may be left to The Fairview Haven Good Samaritan Fund.

Dorothy was born Oct. 26, 1911, in Dunlap, a daughter of the late Paul and Edna (Claudin) Wiegand. She married Alfred Bachtold on Jan. 9, 1949, in Peoria. He preceded her in death on April 20, 1974.

Surviving is one son, Marvin (Mary) Bachtold, Fairbury; two daughters, Bernice (Tim) Zeigler, Springfield, Mo.; and Doris (David) Roberts, St. Anne; one stepdaughter, Joyce (Dale) Schroeder, Grant Park; 10 grandchildren, Matthew Zeigler, Michael Zeigler, Michael Roberts, Marsha Lanz, Melodee Rabe, Ted Bachtold, Paula Kelson, Kristi Strahm, Brenda Bachtold and Kurt Bachtold; eight great- grandchildren; one brother, Dick (Betty) Wiegand, Fairbury; and one sister, Elna Nussbaum, Fairbury.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three brothers, Bill, Ray and Morris Wiegand.

Mrs. Bachtold graduated from Dunlap High School and attended Browns Business College in Peoria. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Forrest Apostolic Christian Church.

She enjoyed reading, quilting and playing Scrabble. She was a very loving and gracious person who loved her family very much.
