Operation Iraqi Freedom casualty. Capt. Jeremy Fresques, a graduate of the Air Force Academy in Colorado was killed on Memorial Day when the Iraqi Air Force Comp Air 7SL aircraft that had been on a mission to survey potential emergency landing sites in the region went down in the Diyala Province in eastern Iraq killing all on board. Fresques had been chief of communications and an information officer at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale before transferring to the 23rd Special Tactics Squadron, Hurlburt Field, Florida. He had been married to Capt. Lindsay Shaw for a little more than a year and lived in Florida. He was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was 26 years old.

He was buried on June 15, 2005 with full military honors and at precisely 9:12 a.m., a perfectly timed four-ship of F-16s from the 63rd Fighter Squadron at Luke Air Force Base flew over the grave of Capt Jeremy Fresques.

NOTE: His unidentified remains were buried in a group grave at Arlington National Cemetery with those of Maj. William Downs; Capt. Derek Argel; Staff Sgt. Casey Crate, and Iraqi Air Force Capt. Ali Hussam Abass Alrubaeye.
