Walter Bennett Adkins, 69, of Decaturville, TN, passed away Saturday, August 10th, at Decatur Co. General Hospital.

He was a retired truck driver and a US Army veteran serving in Vietnam. He was a recepient of the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal.

He is survived by his wife, three daughters, a son, three sisters, six brothers, a brother-in-law, 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and step parents, Clarence & Helen Adkins and Silver & Margaret Manning, a son, Brent Austin, and siblings, Leola Smith, Juanita Vise, Louise Mills, Imogene Blackstock.

His Funeral Service will be held at Reed's Chapel, Decaturville, TN, at 3 PM on Tuesday, August 13th, with Wayne Holmes and Glen "Peanut" Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Lone Chestnut Cemetery. Military Honors will be held at the gravesite.

Visitation will begin at 7 PM Sun. and continue until service time
