By the end of her life Vadia Lois Moses Jones Bailes had become almost universally and affectionately known to everyone who knew her - family and friends alike - by a single name, - one she chose for herself when her first grandchild was born:
"Mamou"
As the years went by it became
that everyone who knew her
called her Mamou.
And everyone knew
who that was
and everyone knew
that was who she was.
And so she had become,
and so she became,
our beloved Mamou.
And she was.
Because that's who she chose to be.
Sweet dreams Mamou.
