Haen, Kenneth 72, Appleton Ken passed away Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Oak Ridge Gardens, Menasha. He was born October 17, 1940 to the late August and Elizabeth (Zellner) Haen in Kewaunee, WI. Ken worked a variety of jobs: farming with his Dad, junkyard; drove a gravel truck and haul mail contractor. He then enlisted in the United States Army, serving in Ft. Hood. Later he went to work at Manitowoc Engineering going back to school and learning to weld. In 1970 he went to school in Florida to learn heavy equipment operating and dug many trenches while there. In 1970 he also married Midge Tirell and they later divorced in 1987. In 1977 he moved to Egg Harbor and worked for Bay Shipbuilding for two years. He later joined the Operating Engineers Union. IN 1988 He went back to school for truck driving in Franklin, WI and drove the Has mat Trucks. His last ten years were spent with the Operating Engineers Union until retiring in 2003.Ken was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, Appleton as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus; American Legion Post #38 and a covenanted member of the People of Praise Ecumenical Christian Community of Appleton.He is survived by two brothers: Arnold of Mishicot and James of Menasha; a sister-in-law, Alice Haen of Two Rivers; nieces and nephews: Kevin, Marsha, Deborah, Tim, Holly, Elizabeth, Dawn, Paul and Rebecca. He is further survived by many great nieces and nephews and good friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, August, nephew, Mark and a niece, Lori. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton.
