Jennie Sue Berlin, (nee: Allen), 93, of Valparaiso, passed away August 10, 2013 at Whispering Pines. Jennie Sue was born April 10, 1920, in Ellenboro, North Carolina to Joseph Samuel and Delilah (Harrill) Allen. She graduated from Ellenboro High School and Appalachian State University, Boone, NC. After graduation she worked at the college as a secretary to both the Dean and President. Also, while living in North Carolina she worked for the North Carolina Education Association as secretary to the Editor of the teacher's magazine. In Valparaiso she worked at the Valparaiso Chamber of Commerce, Allanson Insurance, E.A. LaCount Real Estate and was administration assistant to several General Managers of Indiana General for twenty seven years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and after retirement did volunteer work in the church office as well as Porter Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack W. Berlin, her parents and three brothers, two sisters, and beloved grandson Christopher Bluhm. She is survived by her two daughters Susan (Richard) Tamburini and Rebekah E. Bluhm, six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Dolores Berlin as well as numerous nieces & nephews. Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 16, 2013 at 10:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church, 3401 N. Valparaiso St., Valparaiso, IN, Rev. Gretchen Seidler-Gibbs officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, August 15, 2013, 4 to 7 PM at Bartholomew Funeral Home, 102 Monroe St, Valparaiso and Friday from 9:00 AM until time of services at the Church. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be given to Ellenboro Presbyterian Church, Ellenboro, NC. 28040, or VNA Hospice, 2401 Valley Drive, Valparaiso, IN. 46383.
