Passed away at his home on the Caldwell Ranch in Sandy Point.Preceded in death by his parents Robert Milam Caldwell II,and Sarah Munson Caldwell;two sisters;three brothers.And was a lifelong resident of Brazoria County,Texas.John attended San Jacinto High School in Houston,Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos and the University of Texas at Austin. He received a Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law,and practiced law nearly 59 years. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during WW II as a flight instructor.He was a cattleman who loved spending time training horses.He and his brothers enjoyed an impenetrable,lifelong bond,and for many years they operated the Caldwell Ranch which has been left to them by their parents. He is survived by his wife,Hortense S. of 53 years,his son,John House Caldwell Jr.and wife;two daughters and their husbands,and lots of grandchildren. many other loving family and friends.Services will be held graveside at the Munson Cemetery in Bailey's Prairie on Monday August 8,2005,at 11:00 a.m. Visitation was held on Sunday from 5-9 p.m.at the Palms Funeral Home,Angleton,Texas.77515 Source:The Brazosport Facts Newspaper,
