Betty was born on the family farm, in Jessup Twp, PA on October 25,1945. Following high school graduation, she was employed by The First National Bank of Nicholson. She remained an employee, working through several bank mergers, retiring as the Assistant Branch Manager of the First National Bank. Customers remember her kindness, patience, and concern for others.
Betty enjoyed spending summer days helping her brother, Joe, rake hay, unload bales, and breathing in the fresh country air on her family homestead. She instilled a strong work ethic in her daughter and taught her to appreciate the rural lifestyle. She was one of the most genuine and steadfast persons anyone could have as a trusted friend. She was devoted to her family and accepted every challenge with grace and dignity. The simplest pleasures in life brought her the greatest joy.
Betty was a dedicated member of Holy Name of Mary Church, donating her time to various church functions and activities, including helping with the Sleeping Bag Project. She was also a volunteer at the Susquehanna County Interfaith Store and cherished the many friendships she made at her Chair Yoga classes.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Jennifer and her husband Michael Fancher. Her husband of 37 years, Paul Oleniacz, passed away in 2011. Other family survivors include her sisters-in-law, Alma Jean, Alma, Jean, Vera, and Shirley Blaisure, Pamela Oleniacz (Greg Maxey), brother and sister-law, Larry and Jean Allen, special friend, Mary Lou Warner, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
