CHARLES moved west to Elba Manitoba Canada with his father, John when he was 11 yrs old. His mother Charlotte and children remained on Wolf Island Ontario until the next year. After marrying Ethel they applied and was accepted a homestead in Alberta. The farm suffered from drought. Grampa/Grandma McRoberts owned a grocery store on Atherton Rd in Flint MI close to Fisher Body & convinced Chas/Ethel to remove to Flint. A few years after purchasing a home on Waldman Ave, the depression arrived & they lost the home & rented houses until they purchased a home on Oliver St where they both died
About 1924 he and Ethel and their four children traveled by train to Flint MI. He hired into General Motors, Chevrolet 'in the hole' and died a couple of weeks prior to his retirement date in Jan 1947.
