"Olive Louise Cadwell McLachlan, wife of Robert K. McLachlan, died at her home at Pole Pass, near Deer Harbor, Orcas Island, after an illness of only a few hours on 30 June 1899 at 3: o'clock, aged 32 years, 9 months.
The funeral took place at the family residence, July 3 at 9:00 o'clock, and the interment at Valley Cemetery, San Juan Island, on Monday at 4:00 Monday.
Olive Louise Cadwell was born at Brooklyn, New York, on 11 September 1866, and yet quite a child moved with her parents to Connecticut, they resided until they came to Orcas Island in 1890, where they have since lived. In 1885 she was married to Robert K. Mclachlan at Victoria, B.C., where they resided for two years and then came to Orcas Island and made it their home until her death. The deceased was a member of the Episcopal church and was always an earnest Christian mother, a kind and loving wife and mother, and a true and faithful friend to all who knew her.
Besides her husband, and three children, Kirk, aged 12, William, aged 10, and Jean aged 8 years, deceased leaves her mother, one sister, Mrs. O.T. Loos, and two brothers, W.H. Cadwell, Ballard, WA., and Walter P. Cadwell, of this county, to mourn her loss."
