Lakewood Citizen, Friday April 15,1938:

"Ernest F Brower of 316 Ocean Avenue died at the Paul Kimball Hospital, 2:45 AM Tuesday, following an illness of two days duration. Mr Brower, who was in his forty seventh year, was born in Lakewood, the son of the late J Wesley and Carrie Brower.
Up until Saturday of last week Mr Brower was apparently in good health. On that day he had an ulcerated tooth removed and complained later of feeling ill, taking to his bed. On Sunday his heart condition was such that hospitalization was advised necessary and he was removed to the Paul Kimball Hospital, where he gradually declined despite every medical effort to pull him through.
Mr Brower, who attended the local schools, had been engaged in the electrical business for over a quarter of a century. After securing early training with his father in the conduct of his electrical business, Mr Brower in 1915 became affliated with the Edison Electrical Company at West, Orange, NJ where he became supervisor of the electrical department. He continued there until 1918 when he returned to Lakewood to become partner with his father. Upon the death of the senior member of the firm in 1934, Mr Brower continued the business in the old firm name, being located for the past several years on Main Street. Until Saturday, Mr Brower was engaged in his work.
Surviving Mr Brower is his wife, Mrs Lily Barbour Brower; and two brothers, Floyd of Rockville Center, LI and Fred of New York City.
Mr Brower was a member of Laurel Council No 96, Junior Order United American Mechanics of Lakewood and a former member of Tuckerton Lodge No 4, F and A M. He was also a member of the First Methodist Episcopal Church.
Funeral service was held yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Westhall Chapel on Second Street, with the Rev Hillman T Williams, pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal Church officiating. Burial was made in Woodlawn Cemetery".
