Leon Whitfield Williams, born September 5, 1921, passed away August 12, 2013. He was the youngest of six children born to parents Ninnie and Howard Etho Williams. Leon was predeceased by his parents, three sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Margaret Trammell Williams, and by a large family of brothers-in-law, sisters- in-law, nieces and nephews. Leon served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II, serving in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He was awarded two Bronze Stars during his three years of overseas service. Leon spent his career in the food services business, working for General Foods and subsequently Kraft Foods. Leon was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling with his wife Margaret. He is remembered as a kind and loving husband, brother, uncle and friend, loved by all. For many years he was a member of Woodlawn Methodist Church, and later affiliated with Irondale Methodist Church. The family gratefully thanks the caregivers from Choice Home Care for their exceptional loving care for Leon. Services will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Ridout's Trussville Chapel, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Forest Crest Cemetery. The family requests any memorials be made to Alzheimer's Association or Irondale Methodist Church.
