Eugene was the son of William Riley Jordan and Sarah J. Sweet.
On April 15, 1889 in Lancaster he married Sadie A. Hodgdon, daughter of Frank Hodgdon and Hannah Hartford.
Their children were Frank William, Ethel, Nettie, Laura "Lola", Eugene William Jr, Dolley, Clyde, Marion, and a stillborn son in 1902.
Only five children survived until 1910. In 1902 they lost both Marion and the stillborn son; in 1907 Dolley; and in 1908 Clyde.
Sadie preceded Eugene in death in 1920. He did not remarry. Eugene's death certificate lists his birth year as 1866; his headstone has 1865.
