Funeral services for Leonard native Mrs. Vallie Mary King of Fort Worth are pending with Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.

Mrs. King died at 1:35 p.m. Monday in Fort Worth Osteopathic Hospital.

Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery.

She was born Feb. 6, 1892, to Pharoh 'Doc' Wheatley and E.E. Perkins Wheatley. She married Henry M. King on Dec. 11, 1920, in Durant, Okla., and he preceded her in death June 15, 1961. She taught school in Hunt County for 48 years.

Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Nancy King Saenz of Fort Worth; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Ward of Palestine; and 2 grandchildren.

Mrs. Vallie Wheatley King of Ft. Worth died Monday in Fort Worth. Memorial Services (sic) will be held at the Central Christian Church in Greenville at 11 a.m. Thursday with Dr. Eugene Brice and Rev. Ron Howard officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery.

A second memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the University Christian Church in Ft. Worth.

Mrs. King was born Feb. 6, 1892, in Leonard, the daughter of public school teachers Pharoah 'Doc' and Ella E. Wheatley. Mrs. King taught in public schools in Greenville and Hunt County for 36 years, approximately 20 of them at Concord School, southwest of Greenville.

A graduate of East Texas State University in Commerce, Mrs. King spent most of her early years in the Campbell community east of Greenville, where her family lived on a farm from the time she was five years old. Her first teaching position was in the Campbell schools.

In 1920 she married Henry M. King of the Center Point community south of Greenville. Mr. King for many years operated a chicken hatchery in Greenville.

Mrs. King made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy King Saenz and Michale Saenz for 26 years in Puerto Rico, Indianapolis, Laredo, and Ft. Worth.

For 68 years, Mrs. King had been a member of Central Christian Church in Greenville. She was active in the Fidelis Sunday School Class and the Christian Women's Fellowship. During her years in Ft. Worth she attended Unversity Christian Church with her daughter's family.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law of Ft. Worth; grandchildren Michael King Saenz of Austin and Cynthia Saenz Ward of Chicago; and a sister, Mrs. Ruth Ward of Palestine. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry M. King, in 1961.

Honorary pallbearers are Weldon Ward, Michael K. Saenz, Michael Ward, C. Saenz, D.A. Steele, and Morris Shiro.

Memorials may be made to the Central Christian Church organ fund.
