185. Edmund Theodore Bridge, born Dec. 6, 1799; died Feb. 17, married Sept. 25, 1822, Anne Frazier [King] [beginning of page 369] daughter of Cyrus and Hannah (Stowe) King, of Saco, Me.
He graduated at Bowdoin College in 1818 and became the partner of Judge Fuller in professional business. He became an active politician; edited the Maine Patriot and the Age newspapers for many years. In 1840 he was appointed to a government clerkship in Washington, and, under President Van Buren [Note 1], became Mail Agent for the New England States. At the time of his death, he resided in Jersey City, N. J.; engaged in managing the Morris Canal.

i. William King Bridge, b. Feb. 8, 1824; was in the United States Navy and lost at sea.
ii. Hannah North, b. May 20, 1826. Unmarried.
iii. James, b. Aug. 27, 1828; d. Dec. 30, 1858. A practicing lawyer,
iv. Anne Frazier King, b. Sept. 22, 1830. Unmarried.
v. Octavia Dearborne, b. Aug. 14,1832; d. Sept. 24,1852. Unmarried.
vi. Clara Nourse, b. Sept. 9, 1834; d. Feb. 6, 1860. Unmarried.
vii. William Augustus Steuben, b. Aug. 15, 1836; d. Aug. 15, 1842.
Note 1: Martin Van Buren was the 8th President of the United States, he was in office from: March 4, 1837 - March 4, 1841.
Note 2: The first six children were born in Maine (1850 Census). Three of them, William, Hannah and Anne, were born in Augusta, Maine. I think it is likely that all seven were born in Augusta, Maine. David Bridge April 2021.
The eight members of this family is also listed in the 1850 US Census; except for the youngest, William.
