Hector had been a resident of Sandusky, Ohio; however, he died in the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Mathew and Lucy (Kilbourne) Matthews in or near Columbus, Ohio, on December 18, 1837. He had either travelled to Columbus or become a resident of the area prior to his death, as his will was written by local attorney R. W. Jowels, Esq. on March 18, 1836 and probated in Franklin County on December 30, 1837.
