Rev. Hice

The Rev. William Hice, 74, Reeceburg Road, Silver Creek, Rte. 2, died at 1:45 a.m. Saturday in a Rome hospital following an extended illness.

Rev. Hice was born in Bartow County on Aug. 5, 1907, but had lived most of his life in Floyd County.

He was the son of the late Charles T. Hice and Flora Sisk Hice. He was a retired employe of WestPoint Pepperell Mfg. Company and a member of the Quarter Century Club.

Rev. Hice was a Baptist minister, having pastored many churches in Floyd County including the Floyd Springs Baptist Church, the Pleasant Hope Baptist Church, the Community Chapel Baptist Church, the Southside Baptist Church. He was also instrumental in organizing the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.

He was a member of the East Rome Baptist Church.

Survivors include: his widow, the former Coburn Burkhalter, Silver Creek; one brother, Mr. Homer Hice, Zebulon; two sisters, Mrs. Earl Dean, Chattanooga, Tenn.; Mrs. Ruby Bing, Conyers; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the East Rome Baptist Church with the Revs. Bob Patterson, Russell Head and Robert Johnson officiating.

Interment will be in the New Bethel Cemetery.

Pallbearers are: Homer Hice, R. I. Hice, Bobby Beard, Farrell Hice, Robert Hice and Lydell Hice.
