Veteran of the American Revolution. Killed at Fort Griswold.

He married Prudence (Avery) Morgan on Mar 10,1770/1 according to Groton Avery Clan, however her first husband did not die until Dec 1771. So the marriage date may have been 1772. It is entirely possible he had a prior wife, who may have been the mother of Caleb and possibly even Eliza. (see below)

Children: Eliza Avery Eldridge(wife of William Eldredge and mother of Florence Eldridge Pinckney Waldo), Caleb Avery(here? -- second husband of Eunice (Avery) Johnson Avery), and John J Avery. ****NOTE: Son Caleb could have been by a wife prior to Prudence. If he is the Caleb II born c.1765, the birth would have been several years before Elijah's marriage to Prudence.
