She is survivied by one foster sister and cousin Pearl Baker of Knox City, Missouri and cousins Clara Marie Hettinger and Elmer Brown and wife Essie, all of Edina, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her father on January 4, 1956, her mother, on November 29, 1978 and sister, Esther Irene Baker on January 29, 1988.
Opal was raised near Hedge City and attended the Bishop rural school and regularly attended the Harmony Church. Opal graduated from high school in Novelty and graduated from the Southwestern Bible College in Enid, Oklahoma in 1940. Opal was a faithful member of the Assembly of God Church in Edina, where she was continually involved in women and children's ministries. She taught Sunday school class at Cross Point for thirty years. She learned to play the accordion both at home and for church services. For a number of years, she was employed at the Edina Cleaners and then the Edina Manufacturing as a bookkeeper until her retirement.
