Mary Echtner was born Dec 12, 1854 in Bohemia (Czech). Her parents were Lawrence and Cathereine (Stefek 1824-1912) Echtner. She had a brother named Martin born in Domazlice in SW Bohemia 1858 who died in WI 1939.

Mary married Wenzel Blahnik Sr on Oct 21, 1873 in Cooperstown, Mantiowoc, WI. They had twelve children; Mary (Matt) Kvitek 1874-1960, Anna (Albert)Schufletowski 1876-1952, Joseph 1878-1949, Emilie [Anna Amalia] (Robert)Cizek 1878-1964, Frank 1880-1962 (Katherine Kubs, Julia Cermak 1881-1954, Rose (William) Nelson 1884-1907, Wenzel Jr 1885-1926, Edward (Clara Seibel)1890-1968, Anton (died young), Clara (Joseph) Chizek 1894-1992 and Agnes (Raymond)Jensen 1896-1925.

MARY BLAHNIK

KELLNERSVILEL WOMAN DIES AT AGE OF 80
Mrs. Mary Blahnik, 80, nee Mary Echtner, passed away Wednesday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joseph Chizek, Kellnersville. Death was attributed to complications resulting from her advanced age. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Husar and Wachal funeral home in Kellnersville. Burial will be made in the Kossuth National cemetery.

The deceased was born Dec. 12, 1854 in Bohemia. She came to America and settled with her parents in Cooperstown in May, 1873. On October 2, 1873, she was married to Mr. Blahnik, who died 5 years ago.

The deceased is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Math Kvitek of Cooperstown, Mrs. Anna Schufletowski of Tomahawk, Mrs. Robert Cizek of Menchalville, Mrs. Joseph Cermak of Chicago, Illinois, and Mrs. Joseph Chizek of Kellnersville; three sons, Joseph of Milwaukee, Frank of Kellnersville, and Edward of Manitowoc; two brothers, Martin Echtner of Spruce, Wis., and Jacob Echtner of Green Bay; a sister, Mrs. Anna Steffel of Spruce, Wis.; twenty-seven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
The body may be viewed at the Husar and Wachal funeral parlors in Kellnersville.
