Wenzel was born Jan 28, 1848 at Radonice #43 in SW Czech (Bohemia). He was the son of John (Jan) Blahnik 1814 aft 1880 and his wife Mary (Margaretha Nagel) Nejdl c1814-aft 1880. According to the 1880 Manitowoc, WI Census he immigrated in 1866 at about age 19 with his parents. His parents also appear in the 1880 census in Cooperstown, Manitowoc Co, WI.

Wenzel was a farmer. He married Mary Echtner on Oct 21, 1873 in Cooperstown, Mantiowoc, WI. They had twelve children; Mary Kvitek 1874-1960, Anna Schufletowski 1876-1952, Joseph 1878-1949, Emilie (Anna Amalia) Cizek, Frank 1880-1962, Julia Cermak 1881-1954, Rose Nelson 1884-1907, Wenzel Jr 1885-1926, Edward 1890-1968, Anton (died young), Clara Chizek 1894 and Agnes Jensen 1896-1925. Frank died in 1929 in Manitowoc Co, WI
