James Leslie 'Jim" Anderson, 72

James Leslie 'Jim" Anderson, died Friday Dec. 17 at his home in Butte.

He was born in Pompeys Pillar May 27, 1938, the fourth of eight children to Lloyd and Mary Jackson Anderson.

He attended school at Huntley Project and joined the United States Navy in 1956.
He was honorably discharged in 1962 and sent to work as a machinist in Long Beach, CA.
He returned to Billings, MT., where in 1963 he met Sharron Van Luchene.

Their mutual joy of dancing turned into a lifetime partnership with the two marrying in 1965.

Jim worked briefly at ABC PRE-stressed before becoming an insurance agent for State Farmers Insurance Group for 25 years.

Jim and Sharron were blessed with two boys, Jeffery Alan and James Leslie Jr.

After retiring from Farmers, Jim and Sharron moved their family to Butte where they began their second career as general contractors,
officially retiring in 2004.

Jim was an avid outdoorsman and spent as much time as possible outside.
He was a die-hard fisherman and hunter and spent many hours training and hunting with his many German short hair pointers.
He passed his love of snowmobiling on to the rest of his family who enjoyed many great rides with him.
Upon retirement he found a new hobby in gold prospecting.
He and Sharron enjoyed traveling with their prospecting group and meeting new and cherished friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Dan and Elsie VanLuchene; brothers Roy and Don; and his sisters, Eileen and Sharon.

He is survived by his wife, Sharron; sons, Jeff and fiancé Joni Johnson, Les and his wife Denise; granddaughters, Alexandria and Hannah;
his brother, Glen; sisters, and brothers-in-law, Louise and Delbert Kelly and Pam and Daryl Zank; sister-in-law, JoAnn and Joe Fiest; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial services will be conducted Wednesday, Dec. 22, at Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home.

Interment of ashes will take place in the Pleasantview Cemetery, in Ballantine, MT.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rocky Mountain Hospice.
