He was born April 13, 1915, in San Luis Obispo, California and shortly after moved to San Jose. George was raised on a chicken farm on Stevens Creek Blvd., and Winchester Blvd. He attended Campbell High School.
He served in the US Army Infantry during WWII and was stationed in Europe. He held the rank of Sergeant and was decorated with a Bronze Star, he was proud to serve our country.
George was a self made man and 'ever the craftsman'. He built two homes, one which he raised his family. George married Marian Lima in 1952. He had various jobs including crop dusting and farming.
He retired from Ames Research Center where he worked on such projects as the space shuttle and the Flying Wing. He also was an avid outdoorsman and worked at the Santa Clara Sport Shop.
He is a member of the San Jose Elks, S.I.R.S. and the Bedowin RV Club.
He will be deeply missed by his sons Steve and Allen, daughters-in-law Patricia and Gail, grandchildren Juilanne and Ryan and his loving caretaker Winni Raburau.
A Vigil Service will be held Tues, Jul 5, 2005, at 7pm at LIMA FAMILY ERICKSON MORTUARY, 710 Willow Street, San Jose, Calif. Visitation is from 3-9pm at the above mortuary. A Mass will be held at 10am Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at St. Martin of Tours, 200 O'Connor Drive, San Jose, Calif. Interment will follow at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.
