Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Hems Bros. Mortuary chapel in El Centro for Victor Anthony Gillespie Jr., 55, of Brawley, who died Saturday in Las Cruces, N.M. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m.

Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brawley. The Rev. Ben Davidson of Sacred Heart will officiate.

Burial will be private.

Mr. Gillespie was born Jan. 4, 1948, in Los Angeles.

He was raised in Brawley, where he attended Sacred Heart School before graduating in 1966 from Cascia Hall High School in Tulsa, Okla. Mr. Gillespie attended the University of Montana, Boseman, and Imperial Valley College.

He married Barbara Brown in April 1972, a union which lasted 23 years and produced four children.

Mr. Gillespie worked for the Department of Fish and Game, Valley Nitrogen and Unocal Geothermal. He also operated and managed Fins, Feathers and Farming LLC and a private duck club for 25 years.

Mr. Gillespie was an avid hunter, fisherman and traveler, according to family. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Brawley.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Victor and Kristi Gillespie of Holtville and Nick and Kristin Gillespie of Richmond, Ky.; son and his fiancee, Chris Gillespie and America of Winnemucca, Nev.; son, Tom Gillespie of Tulsa, Okla.; brother and sister-in-law, John and Cydean Gillespie of El Centro; grandchildren Brittany and Kendal Gillespie of Holtville and Sarah and Lance Gillespie of Winnemucca; and companion, Loretta Gentry or Brawley.

The family suggests memorials be sent to Sacred Heart Church, 402 S. Imperial Ave., Brawley, CA 92227 or Ducks Unlimited Inc., Memorial Contributions, One Waterfowl Way, Memphis, TN 38120.
