Clifford Eugene Durbin, 94, of St. Elmo, passed away at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, with family and friends by his side. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Trinity United Methodist Church (Post Oak) in rural St. Elmo. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery, north of St. Elmo. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday at C&A Pagel Funeral Home in St. Elmo and one hour before services on Sunday at the church. Memorials: New Horizon Church, Trinity Chapel or St. Elmo FFA.Mr. Durbin was born on November 10, 1918, in Avena Township, the son of Charles and Tena Durbin. He married the love of his life, Daisy Hopper on Feb. 2, 1939 and they enjoyed 73 years of marriage. He was a farmer, but during his life he held various other jobs including: hired hand, oilfield roughneck, brickyard laborer. For 27 years, the job he loved best was driving a school bus, because he loved the kids. He was a member of New Horizon Church in St. Elmo. He served as the Democrat Committeeman for Loudon Township, cemetery trustee for Loudon Township and cemetery trustee for Mt. Moriah Cemetery. He enjoyed family, friends and farm life.He is survived by his children, Marilyn and her husband Dwayne Dial, Charlie Durbin and his wife Nancy, and Barb and her husband Paul Shelton, all of St. Elmo, and Tena and her husband Greg Matas of Oreana; grandchildren, Doug Dial and his wife Juanita, Randy Matas and his wife Amy, Ryan Matas and his wife Vickie, Kyle Matas and his wife Sarah, Josh Fulk and his wife Tanisha, Chelsy Durbin, Amy Fulk, Clifton Durbin, and Deana and Dana Shelton; and eight great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife; Daisy; parents, sisters; Cleo, Dorothy and Edna; and brothers, Elwood and John.Son of Charles & Tena Durbin.
