Katerina Benyshek was born in Manitowoc, Wis., July 1, 1857 and departed this life at the home of her son, Charles, in Cuba on November 5, 1941 at the age of 84 years, 4 months and 4 days.
With her parents she came to Republic County in 1873, locating on a farm near Cuba. In the fall of the same year she was united in marriage to Frank Havel. To this union were born seven daughters and two sons.
She leaves to mourn her departure one son and two daughters, Charles and Mrs. Albina Havel of Cuba and Mrs. Otillie Chuma of Omaha, three brothers, James and Stephen of Cuba and Anton of Clay Center; one sister, Mrs. Emma Barton of Cuba, also 24 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Her husband, five daughters and one son preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at the Cuba Community Hall on Saturday, November 8, conducted by Stanley Zakostelsky, and burial was made in the Kopsa cemetery.
