Born Aug. 23, 1934, in the Philippines, he retired from McBryde Sugar Company as a heavy equipment mechanic and also worked part time at Coco Palms Hotel & Hyatt Regency Kauai. He also served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife: Vickie E. Abara; two daughters: Lorna Mae (Guy) Takahashi and Michelle Abara; three sisters: Prisca Domingo, Anastacia (John) Martinez, Columba (Rico) Rombaoa; three grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, at St. Raphael's Church in Koloa, where Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. by Father Nap. Burial to follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
Casual attire is suggested and that flowers be omitted. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
