Earl N. Weness, 95, of Adams, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at Adams Health Care Center. He was born Sept. 8, 1909, in Adams Township, to Erick and Martha (Gurvin) Weness. He graduated from the Adams High School in 1927 and began farming one mile north of Adams.
On Sept. 20, 1942, he married Harriet Celia Knutson at the Little Cedar Lutheran Church. Earl enjoyed farming with his brothers, nephews, Bert Godfredson, and son, Roger, and operated the family farm for nearly 50 years. In the late 1970s Earl and Harriet moved into Adams.
Earl had been a township officer and a lifelong member of the Little Cedar Lutheran Church, where he had served in various offices of the church.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Chester, Selmer and Clifford; and a sister, Daisy.
Survivors include his wife, Harriet Weness, Adams; sons and daughters-in-law, Erlin and Jean Weness, Worthington; Roger and Jan Weness, Adams; daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Jeffrey Severson, Mankato; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Kenneth Weness, Adams; nieces and nephews.

He attended public school at Adams, graduating from high school in 1927. Earl farmed in the Adams area all his life and drove school bus for many years.
He has served on various church, township, and local boards and committees. Earl was actively involved in the church building program in 1978.

They had three children and now have seven grandchildren: Erlin and Jean, Jeffrey and Kari Weness of Worthington, MN; Roger and Jan, Wendy, Scott, and Jill Weness of Adams, MN; and Janet and Jeffrey, Jared and Jesse Severson of Rochester, MN.
