DRAPER — Nannie Mae Dalton Akers, age 96, of the Pulaski Health Care Center and formerly of Draper went to join her Lord and her loved ones waiting for her in her heavenly home Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003 in the Pulaski Community Hospital.

Born June 14, 1906 in Pulaski County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Martin Isaac Dalton and Minnie Whitt Dalton.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Akers, two sons, Richard Robert Akers, Donald Lee Akers, eight sisters, Caroline Reynolds, Edna Branscome, Emmalee Padgett, Ellen Rorrer, Opal White, Faye Phillips, Notie Quesenberry and a twin sister Mallie D. Gregory, one brother, Colney Dalton.

She leaves to cherish her memory, four daughters and sons-in-law, Aileen At and Everett Roop, Coatesville, Pa., Louise A. and Clyde Chinault, Dublin, Doris A. and Jerry Jones, Max Meadows, Judith Ann A. and Lewis Williams, Draper; sons and daughters-in law, Henry Allen and Jean G. Akers, Eutawville, S. C., Curtis Duane and Dorothy B. Akers, Barren Springs, Violet T. Akers, Draper; 19 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Bessie Branscome, Pulaski, Mrs. Hazel D. Covey, Dublin, Mrs. Berton Davis, Pulaski.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday 2 p.m. at Bower Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Larry Taylor officiating. Her grandsons will serve as Pallbearers. Interment will follow in Thornspring Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski. The family will be meeting at the home of her daughter, Louise Chinault, 5618 Thornspring Church Road, Dublin. Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski is handling the arrangements.
