He married the former Hildagard Goldsmith on November 21, 1939. He was baptized and confirmed at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. John in the town of Grover where he remained a member all his life.
He farmed in the town of Pound and also was employed at Chadwicks Manufacturing in Coleman until their closing and later worked at Capitol Fixtures in Peshtigo.
Melvin is survived by his wife Hildagard;
a son, Londale (Sharon) Anderson of Three Lakes, WI;
A daughter, Shannon Finger of Wales, WI;
four Grandchildren: Lea (Greg) Anderson-Smith, Marlboro, N.J.; Lonette (Matthew) Gregerson, Karlstad, Sweden; Shanna (Vic) dela Cruz, Brookfield, WI.; Glenn Finger, Wauwatosa, WI;
three great-grandchildren, Briony and Isabel Smith and Jeremy dela Cruz;
Two brothers: Norman (Fern) Anderson, Coleman, WI and Eugene (Nancy) Anderson, Green Bay, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Harold
Visitation will be held on Sunday, Aug. 31, at Berth & Rosenthal Funeral Home from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Visitation continues on Monday at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Charles Learman will be officiating. Burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery.
