Etta was born to Julius Erwin and Jennie Arvilla (Smith) Murray in Lisbon, ND on 2 Nov 1887. She was among the early residents of Lisbon, ND. Her Grandparents, George and Elizabeth (Colton) Murray were among the group, led by Elizabeth's brother Joseph Colton, who established Lisbon along the banks of the Sheyenne River.

Etta grew up in Lisbon. After high school, she graduated from college at Valley City and taught school before marrying Hugh Lambert in 1919. Etta and Hugh had four children - one boy and three girls. Their oldest child, Calvin, passed away in a tragic vehicle accident at the age of 14.

Etta played piano and tended chickens and a large garden with her husband, Hugh. She was happy, witty and spry - even in her latter years. She was an attentive mother and wonderful grandmother.

Etta passed away at the ripe old age of 97. A few minutes before she died, she told her daughter Gladys that she was "going on a long journey." Her daughter left the room for a short while, and Etta passed away. Etta passed on a strong Christian heritage to her children and grandchildren - a heritage which will endure for generations.
